Director

A Director focuses on developing new and existing referral partner relationships, as well as managing all aspects of strategic, operational, and financial engagements creating deliverables with the highest quality standards and impact. In addition to making substantial contributions to overall firm growth, they should be prepared to support junior staff to manage challenging and complex engagements within a small, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of financial models and statement analysis; ability to work with complex data sets and provide insight. ability to take direction from superiors and give accurate updates and time frames concerning progress of projects; strong familiarity with various insolvency proceedings (bankruptcy, receivership, ABC’s, Article 9 sales).
  • Able to identify critical areas and drivers to quickly develop analyses to drive solutions forward; skilled at identifying inconsistencies between analyses and other context clues
  • Preparation and delivery of presentations, reports, analyses, and summaries of research for clients and management
  • Must have a strong ability to push through ambiguity and independently manage and fulfill multiple tasks
  • Demonstration of ability to succinctly express oneself in business communications, both electronically and during meetings and presentations with clients
  • Existing and further development of professional network within the industry among all levels of personnel
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience within the restructuring and general consulting industry
  • Willingness to travel often and work overtime as needed
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; CPA, CTA/CTP, CFA or CIRA is a bonus.

Associate

This important role will provide extensive financial and operational support to Harney’s Executive Team and Managing Directors on client engagements across a variety of industries and markets. Utilize experience and on the job training to successfully deliver reports, financial models, and other work product to help guide the direction and decisions related to client turnaround and/or restructuring objectives.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience within the Restructuring/Turnaround, Audit/Accounting, Transaction Advisory, or some other relevant line of work, including Investment banking, commercial finance, investment management, or management consulting
  • Bachelor’s in Finance or Accounting or related fields, preferred; MBA, CPA, CTA/CTP, CFA or CIRA is a bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of (building and maintaining) and analyzing 13-week cash flow models
  • Preparing three statement financial models, liquidation models, and other financial analyses
  • Assessing validity of cash flow projections and business plans
  • Evaluating strategic options to maximize value during restructuring processes
  • Developing ad-hoc financial analysis and sensitivity analyses
  • Working closely with clients to develop and implement solutions to challenging business problems
  • As appropriate, communicating directly with client trade creditors and other third parties
  • Leading the preparation of high-quality reports and delivering presentations to clients
  • Participating in business development, marketing, and recruiting activities

Other Essential Functions or Requirements:

  • Willingness to work overtime, including frequent travel of varying lengths by air and ground to support client requirements
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging, and uncertain environment
  • Ability to maintain and cultivate positive relationships with clients, other professionals, subcontract groups, third-party stakeholders, corporate staff and referral sources
  • Strong facilitation skills, forging consensus around credible, executable solutions
  • Self-starter with an ability to work though ambiguity with strong project management skills
